Decisions

"Decisions" poetry by Roshan James, Wellesley, Ontario, Canada

Text:

I let them fly

Because why

Why not dream

And do in flight

What the heart finds

Satiating in a resting moment

One following the last

Fledglings with wings of glass

Left the nest without

Any time or preparation

Trying to do what’s right

Mixed up

With trying to get a fix

Choosing time, place and people

With an echo of the recklessness

That marred each heart

And one by one

These baby birds came home

Carrying twigs and strings

Grass and down

Borne by shattered wings

And their fractured reflections
